The new version of the avast review window is fresh and clear, with sections for every tool in the suite. However, the abundance of white space has also led to some features being buried; the homepage gives you quick shortcuts to run scans or to turn on the VPN, for example and there are links to a few not-very-useful system optimisation tools, too however, the majority of features are hidden under the Explore tab. Installation is simple and straightforward and there’s no pressure to upgrade. However the initial scan will uncover advanced issues that can only be addressed with an upgrade to a premium plan. This is a problem that Which? raised in its 2020 report.
